What you get

Shape, length and a razor-sharp line-up on the cheeks and neck. It’s three jobs in one sitting, and each one matters. Get the length right but the lines wrong and the beard still looks messy. Get the lines sharp on a shapeless beard and it looks drawn on.

Shape

The shape is built around your face. Fuller on the sides for a narrow face, tighter on the sides and a little longer at the chin for a round one. The goal is a beard that makes your jaw look better, not one that just follows where the hair happens to grow.

Length

Even length all over, or graded shorter at the cheeks and longer at the chin. If you’re growing it out, the trim takes off only what’s needed to keep it looking deliberate. If you want it short, it gets taken down clean and even.

The line-up

This is where a beard trim earns its money: crisp lines on the cheeks, a neckline set at the right height, and edges that blend into the sideburns or your fade. A clean line-up is what Alex is known for, and it’s the reason the beard still looks sharp on Friday.

Who it’s for

Anyone with facial hair worth keeping: full beards, short boxed beards, a goatee, or heavy stubble that needs a neckline. It pairs naturally with a haircut, especially a skin fade with a blended beard, where the fade on the sides runs right down into the beard.

How often to come back

A line-up every 1 to 2 weeks keeps the edges crisp. A full shape and length trim every 2 to 4 weeks is plenty for most beards. Getting the beard done with every haircut keeps the two in sync. Between visits, a few minutes on the neckline holds the shape; the beard line-up guide shows where to stop so you don’t undo the work.

Easy to fit in

We’re on Central Ave, a short walk from the Pearl River train station. Commuters on the Pascack Valley Line can drop in before or after the train, and we’re open Sundays, 9 AM – 5:20 PM, when plenty of shops nearby are closed. Street meters out front; free on Sundays.

Want the full reset? Book it with one of our men’s haircuts, or slow it down with a hot towel straight razor shave. See the Sunday barber hours or get directions to the shop.

Beard trim FAQ

Beard questions, answered

How much is a beard trim at Pearl River Barber Shop?

A beard trim and style costs $30 and takes about 20 min. That covers shape, length and the line-up on the cheeks and neck.

Can I get a haircut and a beard trim in the same visit?

Yes. Call (917) 324-6347 to book both in one visit, or just ask when you’re in the chair. A haircut is $40 and a beard trim is $30.

How often should I get my beard lined up?

Every 1 to 2 weeks keeps the cheek and neck lines crisp. A full shape and length trim every 2 to 4 weeks is plenty for most beards. Growing it out? Come in anyway: a good shape makes the in-between stage look intentional.

Where should my beard neckline be?

For most guys it sits about one to two fingers above the Adam’s apple, curving back toward the ears. Too high and the beard looks like it’s floating; too low and it reads as neck hair. Alex will set it for your face and jaw.

Do you take walk-ins for beard trims?

Walk-ins welcome when the chair’s free. Booking guarantees your spot. Need to cancel? Call at least 2 hours ahead, or the full cut is charged.
